This interesting topic helps me know about the Bc tourism industry and its policy development and advocacy. It was presented by one of our instructors Peter Larose. He explained the policy and development of the bc tourism industry and its structure.
He has given a detailed explanation about the policy development and the tourism advocacy model. He gives an explanation of the BNA act’s division of power with federal responsibilities and provisional responsibilities. Before hearing the structure of the tourism sector, I don’t have any idea. He clearly explains the structure of the tourism sector with the chart. By his presentation, it’s understandable that Destination Canada is responsible to the Government of Canada, and the Destination of Bc is connected with the Government of Bc.
Also, He has given an idea about how DMO’s, Ministry, Destination of Bc are working. Moreover, he explains about the tourism advocacy in Bc structure like Research, policy and planning, Politics, Public affairs/grant relations. In addition to this, he also shares a case study report of Bc ferries about the socio-economic impact analysis.
It was one of the best lectures that helped me gain more knowledge about tourism planning development and advocacy.
